EM Small Group

Hey all,

Another weeks comes rolling along.. as well as our first meeting of February 2012.

As usual, we’ll be meeting at the church house at 7pm for dinner and Bible Study.  We’re going through a thorough study of Ephesians and will be reading from the beginning verses of chapter 1.  If at all possible, please come prepared and ready to share your thoughts and questions.

You’ll find a PDF of our particular study at the following link.  If time allows, please read through it ahead of time.

The Body Formed in Eternity Past, Part 1

Thanks, everyone.

Special Baptism

Hello brothers and sisters!

Tomorrow (Sunday/9:30am), our brother, Tamir, will be getting baptized during our EM Service.  This is the first baptism that we have seen happen in our group since the English Ministry first started in 2007.  Tamir will also be moving to California at the end of the week, so it’s a bittersweet moment to celebrate together, but obviously much more sweet than bitter in that we get to witness Tamir officially and publicly confess his faith in Christ.

We joyfully welcome Tamir into the body of Christ.  He asked several weeks ago if we would make a special exception to the usual baptisms we hold on Easter and Thanksgiving Sunday.  Although he knew it was likely that he would be leaving the Portland area soon after, he requested to be baptized at Eden because his faith in Christ was confirmed during his time at our church.  What an incredible honor that he chose to get baptized at Eden Presbyterian Church!  We praise God for His work and calling on Tamir’s life.

On that note, please come and celebrate Tamir’s baptism with the rest of the EM family.  It will be Tamir’s final Sunday, so come and join us and let’s send him off with the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Peace,
m.

Prayer and Praise Night – Update

Hello all,

There are a few important changes to note about the location and time of our Prayer and Praise Night, so please read on.

We will be meeting tomorrow (Friday) at 7:00pm in the fellowship hall for a quick dinner.  Our brother, Tamir, will be moving to California next week, so this will be one of our last opportunities to get together, share a meal with him, and be blessed by his presence while he’s still in Oregon.  We’ll also be praying for God’s guidance and provision over Tamir, so please make an effort to come if you can!

Our prayer meeting will begin in the main sanctuary shortly after that.

Please drop a line and let me know if you are able to make it out.

Peace,
m.

Interserve USA Meeting

Hello friends,

What a downpour this week!  I hope everyone is doing well.

As it was announced on Sunday, there’s a bit of a switch-up to this week’s meetings.

Normally, on the last Wednesday of the month, we have our EM Monthly Prayer and Praise Night at the church house.  However, this week, several staff members from Interserve USA are visiting Eden to speak with church leaders and members (you) to share about their role as a mission agency and likewise, what role the church plays in sending and supporting a missionary long-term.

A meeting for family and friends will take place this evening (1/25) at my (Mi Yun’s) house at 7pm to discuss Interserve’s distinctives and what their partnership with Eden will look like, specifically for mission work in Thailand.  If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to send a missionary and what that process looks like from the inside, here’s your chance.

You may find that you have some questions, so there will be plenty of opportunities to ask the Executive Director, Doug Van Bronkhorst, and the West Coast Area Mobilizer, Sue Klabunde.

If you need directions, the address is:

15598 NW Overton Dr.
Beaverton, OR 97006

As usual, we’ll start with dinner and continue our talks soon after.  I hope to see many of you there for the meeting, as it’s a vital part and important step in the overall process of building a strong support team in the States for overseas missionaries.

*Please note, that since this meeting is in lieu of our regularly scheduled meeting, we will be having our prayer and praise night this Friday (1/27)  in the main sanctuary at the regular time (7:30-8:30pm).

Peace,
m.

EM Small Group

Hey friends..

I apologize for the missing announcement of last week’s small group meeting.. it totally slipped my mind!

But to make it up, this week’s announcement comes early.

We did start a new study on the book of Ephesians.  It is strongly suggested that you read the book of Ephesians once a week as we go through our study together.

If you’re still looking for a Bible reading plan, I highly recommend Professor Grant Horner’s Bible Reading System.  Never too late to start!  If you’ve struggled to keep yourself on track in the past, this is a plan that is streamlined on YouVersion and easily accessible on your smartphone.  You’ll notice how lean your diet of the Word is once you’ve begun!  And several of our members are following this or similar reading plans.

Our meeting will start at 7pm with dinner in the church house.  Please come with your Bibles, ready to study and discuss.  If you have any praise to share or prayer requests, please also come prepared!

I’ve already gone shopping for tomorrow’s promised dinner!

Peace,
m.

EM Small Group

A happy beginning to 2012!

I hope everyone has survived the season.. but here we are at the start of a new year.  Time to start right!

Our first small group of the year kicks off tomorrow night at 7pm in the church house.  As always, we’ll start with dinner and head on out from there.. (I do take dinner requests!)

Please remember to bring your Bibles.

Peace,

EM Small Group

Hey folks,

We’ll be meeting tonight at 7pm at the church house.  Make your way on upstairs and we’ll start with a hearty dinner and then head into prayer and study of the Word.  By all means, please come prepared.  We’ll finish up the book of Micah today (chapter 7) and talk some on planning for prayer if your daily walk with Christ.

EM Small Group – Change in Location

Hey friends!

What a chilly week it’s been.. I wouldn’t be surprised if snow started to fall soon.

Tonight’s small group will be held at our church house.  We’ll be changing the location to our church house indefinitely, effective this week.  This is a change in location in over two years, so please make note!

We’ll figure out the warmest spot to meet in, most likely the open area on the 2nd floor of the house, directly up the stairs and to your right.

We’ll start with dinner at 7pm.  We’ll be studying the last chapter of Micah and possibly watch ’58′ (www.live58.org, for more information).

Summary: Change in location (church house), same time (7pm)!

Peace,
m.
